AUSTIN, TX — Governor Greg Abbott today announced that 25 Texas public schools have been named 2026 Lone Star Ribbon Schools in recognition of outstanding academic performance.
“Young Texans are the future of our state, and it is critical that they have access to a high-quality education,” said Governor Abbott. “We will invest in the students, teachers, staff, and parents who are essential to building a bigger, brighter Texas for generations to come.”
Established by Governor Abbott in 2025, the Lone Star Ribbon Schools program replaced the National Blue Ribbon Schools program as part of the U.S. Department of Education’s efforts to return control of education back to the states.
Eligible campuses must earn an overall "A" rating, maintain a strong standing across accountability domains, and demonstrate consistent student success on state assessments.
