SAN ANGELO, TX -- Bowie Elementary third grade teacher Stacy Fischer has been named the Region 15 Elementary Teacher of the Year. Fischer was selected as the Bowie Elementary Teacher of the Year in the spring and was named the San Angelo ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year during the district’s annual ceremony in April.
Fischer, a graduate of Angelo State University, has taught in SAISD for eight years. Her passion for learning and student success is evident in all that she does. She believes in her students' abilities and works diligently to ensure they continue to grow in their learning throughout the year. She has been instrumental in the process of moving her campus from lesson planning to designing lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
Mrs. Fischer challenges her students to be critical thinkers, collaborators, and creators of their own learning. In her classroom, you will see highly engaging instruction, hands-on activities, and student collaboration happening on a daily basis. From robots, to coding, to Chromebooks, students move from station to station learning through experiences, not just a piece of paper.
Mrs. Fischer is also involved in many district technology initiatives and is an ambassador for the use of technology in the classroom. She continually shares her knowledge of instructional practices, curriculum, and technology with other staff members.
As Region 15 Teacher of the Year, Fischer is one of twenty elementary teachers vying for the State Elementary Teacher of the Year title. This fall, three elementary finalists will be selected and interviewed by the Texas Association of School Administrators prior to naming the state recipient.
