Criminal Studies and Criminal Justice Programs at Angelo State Earn National Rankings

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University has been nationally ranked by multiple higher education resource guides for both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs offered through its Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice.

ASU has been ranked No. 3 among the nation’s “10 Best Colleges for Homeland Security Degree Programs” by the Schools.comcollege resource guide. The rankings were formulated using data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and were primarily based on program quality, tuition costs, and admission and graduation rates. ASU offers a bachelor’s degree in border and homeland security, as well as a master’s degree and graduate certificates in homeland security, and they are all offered in a totally online format. The master’s degree in homeland security has been ranked No. 4 among the nation’s “15 Most Affordable Online Master’s in Emergency Management Degrees” by the CollegeChoice.net college resource guide.

The College Choice rankings were based on school reputation, tuition costs and early career earnings of graduates, using data from the NCES and U.S. News and World Report. ASU was the only Texas school ranked in the top 15. The complete list is available at www.collegechoice.net/rankings/most…. 

College Choice has also ranked ASU’s bachelor’s degree in border and homeland security No. 27 among the nation’s “35 Best Bachelor’s Degrees in Homeland Security.” Again, ASU was the only Texas school to make the rankings, which are available at www.collegechoice.net/rankings/best…. 

ASU also offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice, and has been ranked No. 6 among the nation’s “Best Criminal Justice Programs of 2018” by the BestValueSchools.org college resource guide. Criteria for the rankings included cost of attendance, faculty experience, student-to-faculty ratio, student resources, graduation and job placement rates, and student feedback.

Tarleton State University (No. 30) was the only other Texas school in the BestValueSchools.org rankings, which can be found here.
