Popular Summer Code Camp at Angelo State Begins June 4

SAN ANGELO, TX — Slots are still available for 2018's Summer Code Camp at Angelo State University, but advance registration is required. This is one of ASU's more popular summer programs.

Angelo State University’s Department of Computer Science will host its annual ASU Code Camp for junior high and high school students June 4-15 in the Mathematics-Computer Science (MCS) Building, 2200 Dena Drive, on the ASU campus.

The two-week camp is open to junior high and high school students interested in computer science and coding, and will be directed by Dr. William Wolfe, professor of computer science. Activities will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. each day Monday through Friday, June 4-8 and 11-15, in the MCS Building computer labs.

Registration fee for the camp is $38 per person, and advance registration is required. Attendees will learn to design, implement and test computer code using the Java programming language and the Unity3D Game Engine. They will also learn the basics of computer science as they work in groups to implement a variety of applications. No programming experience is required, and students with prior programming experience or who have attended previous ASU Code Camps will work on more advanced projects.

To register for the Code Camp, contact Belinda Saaranen in the Computer Science Department at 325-942-2101 or email [email protected]. The registration packet is also available on the Computer Science Department website at www.angelo.edu/computer-science
