SAN ANGELO, TX -- Thursday is the last day to register to vote for the May 5 San Angelo Independent School District’s $149 million bond election.
According to the SAISD website, anyone not registered can register online at the Secretary of State’s website.
The bond proposal before voters include $112,100,000 for aging facilities and $36,800,000 for student programs.
Student programs include a new multipurpose gym at Central High School, new baseball and softball facilities at Lake View High School, a new alternative learning center and a new track at Lincoln Middle School.
Aging facility improvements include construction of new Bowie and McGill Elementary Schools at their current sites, new secured entrances at several schools, access control improvements, exterior fencing, connecting detached buildings at elementary campuses to eliminate multiple access points, expansion of undersized classrooms and other areas, handicap accessibility upgrades, and new construction to bring multiple buildings under one roof.
Early voting runs from Monday, April 23 to Tuesday May 1 in the Tom Green County Elections Office at 113 W. Beauregard, the PAYS Campus at 1820 Knickerbocker Rd., Lee Middle School at 2500 Sherwood Way and Lincoln Middle School at 255 Lake View Heroes Dr.
According to the district’s website, the tax impact for the average SAISD home valued at $154,000 would increase $15.32 per month.
