SAN ANGELO, TX -- (SAISD Press Release) Fort Concho Elementary Principal Lori Barton has been selected as the Rhosine Fleming Campus Administrator of the Year by the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA). The annual award recognizes educators' substantial and meritorious contributions to the school counseling profession.
Barton was nominated for the award by Dr. Lesley Casarez, an Assistant Professor at Angelo State University and parent of two Fort Concho students.
In her nomination letter, Casarez described Barton as a champion of the community. "While she is an unsung hero, giving much of her time, money, and energy to helping students and others in the community, she deserves recognition as a champion of children. She truly is an advocate for community and student success."
A San Angelo native, Barton has been an elementary educator for 27 years and Fort Concho principal for 10. Under her leadership, Fort Concho has been recognized as a High-Performing Campus by the Texas Education Agency and its enrollment has nearly doubled.
Mrs. Barton will be honored by TSCA at the 13th Annual Professional School Counseling Conference in Galveston, February 18-20, 2018.
