ASU Professor Named Editor of The Texas Speech Communication Journal

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - ASU Assistant Professor of Communication Leslie Rodriguez has been named editor of the Texas Speech Communication Journal. This is the official publication of the Texas Speech Communication Association (TSCA), said a press release.

Rodriguez was elected to the editor post, which is also on the TSCA Executive Board, at the TSCA Annual Conference held Oct. 6-8 in San Antonio. As editor, she will have complete oversight of the Texas Speech Communication Journal, which is published annually in print each fall, and online each spring, according to the ASU press release.

Her duties will include:

  • Deciding on a theme, and call for papers and book reviews to be submitted
  • Set up an editorial board of TSCA members to review submissions
  • Track, format and submit papers and reviews for publication
  • Contract for and oversee printing and mailing
  • Post online version of the journal

An ASU faculty member since 2011, Rodriguez is also an alumni, having earned her ASU bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication. She also taught previously at the Park University branch at Goodfellow Air Force Base and at Pearl River Community College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She holds a doctorate in communication studies with specializations in both organizational and interpersonal communication from the University of Southern Mississippi.

In addition to her teaching duties, Rodriguez has presented research at various professional conferences and published articles in industry journals. She has also served as a peer reviewer for the Western Journal of Communication and the National Communication Association (NCA). In addition to the NCA and TSCA, she is a member of the Southern States Communication Association, Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education and Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.
