ASU Professor Elected to Pennsylvania Historical Association

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Dr. Kenneth J. Heineman of Angelo State’s History Department was chosen to serve a three-year term on the council of the Pennsylvania Historical Association. The association mission is to advocate the knowledge regarding the history of Pennsylvania and surrounding areas, said a press release today.

According to the release, Heineman has a long history with the state of Pennsylvania and the association. He received his master’s degree from the University of Pittsburg in 1986 and was a part of the Pennsylvania Area Industrial Heritage Project in 1987.

In 1989 he served as a historian or the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania and as a visiting instructor at or the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania. He completed his doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh in 1990.

Heineman joined the ASU Faculty in 2009 and served as the History Department’s chair until 2014. He was also the recipient of the ASU’s 2014 President’s Award for Faculty Excellence in Research/Creative Endeavor.

He has previously served on the editorial board of the association's official journal, Pennsylvania History, and peer reviewed 25 historical presses and journals. In his lifetime, he has written 26 essays and journal articles, 9 encyclopedia entries and 48 reviews.
