Angelo State’s College of Business Named ‘Best for Vets’ Yet Again

Angelo State University’s College of Business has been named one of the nation’s 77 Best Business Schools for Veterans by the Military Times organization in its “Best for Vets: Business Schools 2016” rankings for the third straight year said a press release Monday.

According to the release, the ASU College of Business ranked No. 36 on the list, and is one of five business schools in Texas to earn the “Best for Vets” recognition. The Military Times comprises of the Air Force Times, Army Times, Marine Corps Times, Navy Times, Military Times and Defense News newspapers and their corresponding websites. “Best for Vets: Business Schools” rankings are based on an extensive survey of a business school’s offerings for military veterans and factors in academic quality, outcomes and policies, school culture, student support and cost of attendance.

“Veterans have told us they were attracted to a business degree because it wouldn’t tie them down to a certain industry,” said Amanda Miller, editor of Best for Vets. “The survey lets us recognize the graduate business schools with close military connections that truly take vets’ success to heart.”

Dr. Clifton Jones, dean of the ASU College of Business, said, “We are extremely proud to receive this distinction and honor from Military Times representing our nation’s veterans. Our dedicated and caring faculty and staff are committed to ensuring that veterans—and all our students—receive the support and attention they deserve.”

The press release noted that, in November, ASU also received its third straight Military Times “Best for Vets” designation as an overall institution when it ranked No. 42 on the list of the nation’s 140 Best Colleges for Veterans 2016. That followed a seventh straight “Military Friendly School” designation for ASU by G.I. Jobs magazine.

Other Texas universities with business schools on this year’s “Best for Vets: Business Schools” lists include University of the Incarnate Word, Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at Arlington.
