Affordable Colleges Online, a Web-based college guide for prospective students that ranks and profiles online schools and academic programs in all 50 states, has named Angelo State University one of the “Best Online Colleges in Texas,” said a press release Thursday.
According to the press release, Affordable Colleges Online ranked ASU No. 5 on the list of Best Online Colleges in Texas. To be eligible for the rankings, schools must be accredited and not-for-profit. Ranking criteria includes the number of available online bachelor’s degrees, student-to-faculty ratio, online tuition rate, six-year graduation rate, loan default rate, and job placement and career counseling for graduates.
“There are notable schools in the Lone Star State that merit recognition,” said members from Affordable Colleges Online. “The colleges that made the list of the Best Online Colleges in Texas for 2015-2016 have a demonstrated record of excellence in delivering online programs and support to students at the post-secondary level.”
As of today, ASU offers online bachelor’s degree programs in border security, border and homeland security, and intelligence, security studies and analysis. There are also 13 online master’s degree programs available in various subjects, including applied psychology, business administration, criminal justice, curriculum and instruction, education, homeland security, nursing, security studies, and intelligence, security studies and analysis. ASU officials said the university also offers various undergraduate and graduate certificate programs online.
Overall, 26 Texas colleges and universities were ranked by Affordable Colleges Online. The only schools that ranked higher than ASU were Midland College, Dallas Baptist University, Southwestern Adventist University and University of the Incarnate Word, read the press release.

This is a great compliment to one of this state's great institutions of higher learning. Both the in-residence and on-line courses are of high quality and provide very individualized instruction for the students enrolled. It's about time ASU got the recognition she deserves!
