Carl Dethloff Hired as Superintendent of the San Angelo ISD

The San Angelo ISD school board voted unanimously May 18 to hire Dr. Carl Dethloff as the new superintendent of San Angelo ISD. Dethloff was named by the board as the lone finalist for the position on April 20, but, by law, could not be officially hired until after a 21-day waiting period.

Dethloff is set to begin as Superintendent on July 1, following the retirement of Dr. Carol Ann Bonds.

Dr. Dethloff has served in San Angelo ISD for the past six years and is leaving the post as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Staff Development.

This is his 23rd year as an educator in Texas public schools.  During his tenure here, he has conducted over 2,200 documented classroom walk-through observations and has designed and facilitated the District's New Teacher Academy.

Prior to coming to San Angelo, Dr. Dethloff served as principal of three different campuses in College Station, garnering such awards as the Texas Business and Education Coalition Honor Roll award and the Texas Monthly Top Performing Schools in Texas award, while leading two campuses to a Texas Education Agency exemplary rating.

Dr. Dethloff holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from Austin College.  He earned his doctorate at Texas A & M University.

Dr. Dethloff is a member of First United Methodist Church, where he serves on the Board of Trustees and is also a board member of San Angelo Civic Ballet.  He and his wife, Judy, have two daughters, Abbey and Caroline, who are students in San Angelo ISD.

we have to pay 2 different superintendents at once? I would like to know what he majored in because anytime his degrees are mentioned it's vague. I also don't think he should be getting 190,000 a year to start off
