San Angelo ISD administrators and board members said that they have taken a proactive step in good stewardship of budgeted funds and energy by embarking on a comprehensive energy conservation and management program with Cenergistic, a Dallas-based energy conservation company. The award-winning company’s programs have saved more than 3.4 billion for educational, healthcare, and ministerial organizations across the nation.
SAISD will implement conservation practices and procedures in all facilities. Cenergistic’s engineers and consultants will provide comprehensive support for every energy use point in the district. The company’s energy management program will guide district employees to reduce consumption of electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, and water. System facilities will be audited during different times of the day and night, year round, to ensure that all energy-saving strategies are in place.
All costs of the Cenergistic program come from the district’s existing utility budget, with savings projected to more than pay for the program. Two Energy Specialists, hired and trained by Cenergistic, will coordinate all conservation and management efforts for SAISD. Cenergistic will continue to provide support after the paid term of the contract, as long as the program continues to be implemented.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jeff Bright, who will serve as program liaison, said, “We are excited about the partnership with Cenergistic. Not only does this have the potential to save taxpayer dollars, conserving our resources is simply the right thing to do. We expect the program to really kick off in early September when the Energy Specialists are fully on board.”
