Central Alumni Return to San Angelo: Classes of '67, '68, and '69 Reunion

Come Friday, Oct 18, the Central High School classes of ’67, ’68, and ’69 will descend upon San Angelo for a reunion.

“It’s going to be a hoot,” said Tommy Wood, organizer of this year’s reunion.
The weekend event begins Friday evening, when Bobcat alumni can attend a mixer at the Cactus Hotel from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. or attend the Bobcat game at San Angelo Stadium.

Those attending the game will have a special reserve section to watch Central take on Odessa Permian.

Starting Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., alumni will receive a special tour of Central High School by principal Bill Waters in order to illustrate how the times have changed.

At 1:00 p.m., those who registered to play golf will tee off at the San Angelo Country Club.

Saturday evening will conclude with the Dinner and Dance at the Cactus Hotel, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The DJ will play 300 of the best songs from 1962-1970, “the music is going to be fantastic,” said Wood excitedly.

Wood also acquired six tambourines and three cowbells, which hints at the fun potential of the event.

“I’ve got a fever,” said Wood, “and the only prescription is more cowbell.”

The final event will be on Sunday at Fort Concho Barracks Courtyard, where the classes of ’67, ’68, and ’69 will have a Chuckwagon memorial breakfast to honor those who have gone before them.

With such a variety of events, Wood is hoping that many will attend this year’s reunion.

“The sad thing is that there are many people who live in San Angelo who have never been to a reunion,” said Wood, but he thinks this one will be the biggest and best one yet.
