Updated: Sunday Shooting Being Investigated in San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Law enforcement is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 1900 block of Coleman Street. 

The call came in at about 2 p.m. from a home near the intersection of Coleman Street and North Harrison Street.

One person was reported to have suffered gunshot injuries. Their condition has not been officially confirmed. A photo provided to San Angelo LIVE! by a neighbor shows a person covered by a white sheet in the middle of the street. 

Texas DPS Sgt. Justin Baker said Sunday afternoon that a large police presence remains at the scene because of an active investigation that is expected to last a lengthy period of time. He said the public is safe and there is no danger to anyone in the area.

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, San Angelo Fire Department, and San Angelo Police Department are all on scene. Crime scene tape has secured the area. 

Baker asked residents to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes. Officials said more information will be released when it becomes available.
