San Angelo Police Confirm Homicide; Suspect in Custody

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Police Department confirmed this afternoon that it is investigating a homicide on the north side of town and has one suspect in custody.

Police said the investigation began this morning after developing leads over the previous 12 hours. Investigators have located a homicide victim but are not releasing the victim’s identity at this time while working to notify family members. The suspect's name was also not released.

Officials said there is a known relationship between the victim and the suspect. They stated they have no reason to believe this was a random act of violence and that there is no known threat to the public. No gang connection is known at this time.

During the same press conference, police also addressed earlier reports of a suspicious load at the Republic Services San Angelo Landfill. Officials declined to provide details on what was discovered there, saying more information will be released at a follow-up press conference scheduled for tomorrow morning.

The landfill at 3002 Old Ballinger Highway remains open to the public.
