'Body Parts' Spark Police Search at San Angelo Landfill

SAN ANGELO, TX - A "suspicious load" was dumped at the Republic Services San Angelo Landfill, prompting police to search the area, according to a source close to the situation.

A tip came into the San Angelo LIVE! newsroom at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, asking why detectives were rummaging through the trash in the area.

Our source said that a load was dumped in the landfill, which was believed to contain "body parts," and led to the call to local authorities.

We've reached out to the San Angelo police for official confirmation, but have not heard anything back at this time. We sent a reporter to the scene, but were denied entry.

The landfill located at 3002 Old Ballinger Highway remains open to the public as only a small portion of the area is under investigation.
