No Threats Found After Separate Incidents at Brownwood, Coleman Schools

BROWNWOOD, TX — Law enforcement in two Central Texas communities responded Tuesday to separate school threats, but no active danger was found and operations returned to normal, authorities said.

In Brownwood, an unidentified male issued a threat to Brownwood High School earlier this morning, telling officials he would arrive at the campus in “ten minutes,” Superintendent Dr. Joe Young reported. The campus was placed on secure status, limiting outside movement while normal instruction continued inside. Law enforcement patrols remained on site for an extended period as a precaution before the campus resumed normal activity.

Brownwood ISD officials expressed gratitude for the rapid response from the Brownwood Police Department and partner agencies.

“Their professionalism and presence allowed our students and staff to remain safe and supported throughout the incident,” the district said in a statement. “Threats of this nature are taken seriously and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Meanwhile, in Coleman, law enforcement responded to what appeared to be a swatting call involving a school.

Swatting is a hoax where a person reports a false emergency to trick law enforcement into sending a heavily armed Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.

Officers and first responders immediately conducted a thorough safety sweep of the campus. Students and staff were safely relocated to the Bill Franklin Center while the school was cleared, the Coleman Police Department said.

“At this time, there is no known or active threat to the school, students, staff or community,” the department stated in a public safety announcement.

Coleman officials noted that swatting incidents are serious criminal offenses that divert emergency resources and create unnecessary panic and danger. The investigation remains ongoing, and any individuals responsible will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.

Both districts thanked school staff, first responders and the community for their cooperation.
