San Angelo Thanksgiving Eve Stabber Identified

SAN ANGELO, TX — The man accused of stabbing two people at a San Angelo residence Wednesday morning has been identified as 62-year-old Juan Padilla, according to newly released booking records.

San Angelo police were called at 11:17 a.m. to the area of Malone Street and Harris Avenue for a reported stabbing. The first officer arrived within a minute, Police Chief Travis Griffith said, and located two victims suffering from stab wounds. Both were given immediate medical care at the scene and taken to Shannon Hospital, where they remain in stable but critical condition.

Padilla was detained at the residence after initially re-entering the home. Griffith said that when officers surrounded the property, Padilla surrendered peacefully. Police believe Padilla and the victims are family members, though a motive has not yet been determined.

According to the Tom Green County Detention Center, Padilla was booked at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bond.

Griffith said additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
