SAN ANGELO, TX — The man critically injured in the shooting on Chadbourne Street has died, according to family and community announcements.
Enemencio “Mitch” Delarosa IV, 35, was shot in the face near Ninth and Chadbourne on Sept. 20. Police said he was initially treated at Shannon Medical Center before being transferred to San Antonio, where he was placed on life support. At a press conference last Tuesday, Police Chief Travis Griffith said there was “little to no hope of recovery.”
Delarosa died Sept. 25. A candlelight prayer service honoring his life is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Glenmore Park in San Angelo. Attendees are asked to bring their own candles. The official flyer is at the bottom of this article.
A GoFundMe fundraiser created by his mother, Allison Flores, has raised more than $2,600 toward funeral expenses as of this Monday morning.
The suspect in the case, 34-year-old Alan Helms, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Griffith said during the press conference that the charges are expected to be upgraded if Delarosa succumbed to his injuries.
Griffith asked the community to keep the Delarosa family in their prayers, saying, “Anytime you lose a loved one, a friend, a fellow citizen here in San Angelo, it’s hard.”
