Police Identify Suspect in San Angelo Shooting

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo police have identified the suspect in Saturday night’s shooting at East Ninth Street and North Chadbourne Street as 34-year-old Alan Helms.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, officers were dispatched around 8:15 p.m. September 20 for reports of a shooting victim. Upon arrival, they located 35-year-old Enemenico DeLaRosa suffering from gunshot wounds to his face. He was transported to Shannon Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.

Helms was taken into custody at the scene, transported to the Tom Green County Jail, and booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without bond. 

Police said based on the preliminary investigation, they believe the incident was isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

At 8:28 p.m., a Nixle alert advised residents to avoid Chadbourne Street between 7th and 15th streets due to police activity.

This case remains under active investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
