San Angelo Man Arrested for Touching a Child

 

SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been arrested for indecency with a child through sexual contact.

William McGary, 50, has been arrested by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office for indecency with a child by sexual contact.

According to court documents, on March 4, 2025, an investigator spoke with the child victim and was informed that McGary had touched the victim inappropriately around Christmas of 2020.

McGary allegedly touched the victim’s inner thigh when he was babysitting while the victim’s mother was at work. During the first assault, the victim remembered that McGary was sitting next to them on the couch where he allegeldly rubbed and gripped the victims thigh.

According to an affidavit, the victim would state, “I didn’t feel too good” and “I would tell him to stop," only for McGary to respond with, “What” or he wouldn’t say much. McGary also allegedly touched the victim’s private area as he touched there inner thigh.

When the victim told him to stop, McGary told them, “Ok, I didn’t mean it like that." He also touched all over there clothes.

During the spring of 2011, McGary and the victim were riding a 4-wheeler with him positioned behind the victim and he would grab there chest and touch there thighs and waist.

The most recent incident occurred before Thanksgiving of 2024 where McGary leaned into kiss the victim on the lips while they were hugging.

On March 1, 2025, McGary was confronted at a BBQ about an accusation involving a child victim who was under the age of 10. During a forensic interview on March 11, 2025, the victim told the interviewer that on several occasions McGary hugged them and placed his hand on there butt.

McGary was arrested on March 17, 2025, and booked into the Tom Green County Jail where he was released on $75,000 bond on March 18, 2025.
