Brownwood Woman Arrested for Hitting Stepson With Bat

BROWNWOOD, TX — A Brownwood woman was arrested Tuesday night after admitting to hitting her 17-year-old stepson in the head with a bat.

Brownwood police officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence, where they located the victim and his sister.

The victim told police he had been arguing with his parents about missing school. As the victim and his sister tried to re-enter the home after leaving, Cecilia Huerta, 35, tried to push the door closed.

Huerta then grabbed a metal baseball bat and swung it through the opening, striking the victim multiple times in the head.

Huerta admitted to using the bat, according to police.

Huerta was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
