Big Spring Shooting Suspect Caught in Comanche County

 

BIG SPRING, TX— A man has been arrested in Comanche County in connection with a shooting in Big Spring that left 30-year-old Dustin Aaron Gutierrez dead.

On January 5, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., the Big Spring Police Department responded to a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the 1700 block of South Gregg Street where Gutierrez was found sitting in his pickup, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Gutierrez was transported to a hospital but died upon arriving.

Throughout the investigation and with the help of other law enforcement agencies, a suspect vehicle was identified and on January 6, 2025, around 1:15 p.m., that vehicle was located in Comanche County and the driver was identified as 42-year-old Ruben Drake Silva.

Silva was arrested and charged with Murder.

In a press release, the Big Spring Police Department said that detectives believed this to be a random act of violence and found no correlation between Silva and Gutierrez. They also state this is still an ongoing investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
