San Angelo Pedestrian Struck While Walking in Traffic Dies Days Later

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - A pedestrian walking in the middle of South Bryant Boulevard was struck by a vehicle and later died, San Angelo police confirmed.

John Johnson, 48, was hit just before 4:50 a.m. on November 21 near the 2100 block of South Bryant. Police say the driver was turning north from Knickerbocker Road when they struck Johnson in the far outside lane. Johnson had been walking with the flow of traffic when the collision occurred.

Medics transported Johnson to Shannon Medical Center, where he was later flown out of town for specialized care. He succumbed to his injuries on November 28.

Authorities remind pedestrians to use sidewalks when available or walk against the flow of traffic if sidewalks are absent. Wearing bright or reflective clothing during nighttime hours is also recommended for safety.
