SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Police Department has released information regarding a crash early Thursday morning.
According to the San Angelo Police Department, on Nov. 21, 2024, at 4:49 a.m., San Angelo Public Safety Communications dispatched police and fire department resources to the 2100 block of South Bryant Boulevard for a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.
Officers arrived and located a 48-year-old male patient who had been struck by a vehicle and was in serious condition. Medics with the San Angelo Fire Department transported the male to Shannon Medical Center, where he was later flown out of town for a higher level of care.
He remains in critical condition at this time.
The investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was turning from Knickerbocker Road to travel north on Bryant Boulevard, where he then struck the man in the far outside lane. The man had been walking with the flow of traffic in the middle of the roadway when he was struck.
The Police Department reminds pedestrians that if there is a sidewalk you must walk on the sidewalk. If a sidewalk is unavailable, you must walk against the flow of traffic as close to the curb as possible. It is also suggested that if you're out walking during hours of darkness to wear bright clothing or reflective gear to be seen.
