ATLANTA, GA — A Georgia woman convicted of killing her two toddler sons by placing them in an oven and turning it on will spend the rest of her life in prison, a judge ruled Friday.
Lamora Williams, 24, was found guilty of multiple charges stemming from the 2017 deaths of her sons, Ja’Karter Penn, 1, and Ke’Yaunte Penn, 2. The boys were killed about an hour apart. Williams was sentenced to life without parole for the murders.
The mother called 911 on the day of the incident, describing the harrowing scene. “When I came in, the stove was laying on my son, on my youngest son’s head, and my other son was laid out on the floor with his brains laid out on the floor,” she told the dispatcher. She claimed to have discovered the tragedy after returning home from work.
In 2018, Williams was indicted on numerous charges, including four counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of concealing a death. Additional charges included child cruelty, obstruction of law enforcement, and battery. Authorities said she “knowingly and intentionally” killed the boys between Oct. 12 and 13, 2017.
Williams told police she had left her three children in the care of a babysitter that day, but prosecutors argued that the evidence pointed to her direct involvement in the children’s deaths.
“Can you please help me?” Williams asked the 911 dispatcher during her call. “I don’t want to get locked up because this is not my fault.”
