Convicted Felon Indicted for Evading Arrest After Foot Pursuit

SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been indicted for running from the police at Home Motors over the July 4 holiday.

Bryan Espinoza, 39, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for evading arrest or detention after taking law enforcement on a foot pursuit through properties on Christoval Road.

According to court documents, on July 3, 2024, a DPS Trooper responded to Home Motors, located at 3828 Christoval Road to serve an arrest warrant for Espinoza.

Home Motors had contacted the San Angelo Police Department to inform them Espinoza was at the property. When the trooper arrived, he was allowed into the towing yard by Home Motors staff, and he was informed Espinoza was retrieving items from a vehicle.

The trooper pulled in front of Espinoza in his patrol vehicle and activated his emergency lights. He then exited his unit and walked up to Espinoza with two San Angelo police officers and informed him he was under arrest.

Due to Espinoza having a large amount of clothing and personal items, he was asked to set them aside so he could be placed in handcuffs. Then, Espinoza turned away, dropped his personal items, and began a foot chase.

During the chase, Espinoza traveled through multiple properties and the pursuit lasted around 30-45 minutes. He was spotted running near the fence line at 3820 Christoval Road where the trooper was able to climb the fence and catch Espinoza.

After Espinoza was taken into custody, he was found to have previous evading or detention convictions.

He was taken to Shannon Medical Center for treatment before being taken to the Tom Green County Jail.

Espinoza was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on July 3, 2024, and has been an inmate since. He is being held on $225,000 bond.
