Man Arrested for Threatening Neighbor After Asking for Toilet Paper

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested for threatening his neighbor with a firearm after asking for toilet paper.

Lauro Alvarez-Padilla, 24, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, on Sept. 12, 2026, deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 7 Oaks Lodging, located at 6696 RM 853, after reports of people fighting on the premises. When deputies arrived, they learned that all the subjects had already left. While patrolling the lodge, the investigator was flagged down by the victim.

The victim told the investigator that he was living at the lodge while in town for work and that at 7:15 p.m., he, along with two coworkers, heard someone knocking on their door. He opened the door and one of his other coworkers, identified as Lauro Alvarez-Padilla, was there asking for toilet paper.

According to the victim, Alvarez-Padilla was acting weird and had an angry look on his face. He lifted his shirt to expose a “9mm” and said, “I have a bullet for each one of you” to the victim and others. The victim said he chose not to push the issue and, according to the investigator, appeared frightened.

The investigator went next door to speak with Alvarez-Padilla who confirmed he walked to the victim’s residence to ask for toilet paper. When asked if he was in possession of a firearm, Alvarez-Padilla initially said he wasn’t but later admitted he was and told the investigator where the gun was located. He then said it was a “BB gun” and it was in a bag just inside his front door.

When the investigator located the weapon, he confirmed it was the same firearm used in the assault.

Alvarez-Padilla was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail and is being held on $20,000 bond.
