SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been indicted for selling marijuana vape pens to high school students.
Adrian Rodriguez, 18, of San Angelo, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, namely THC oil. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive compound found in marijuana, responsible for the sensation of being "high."
According to court documents, at around 9:50 p.m., on April 23, 2024, a DPS trooper was on patrol at Main Street and 18th Street when a red Hyundai passenger car was observed driving without lights on.
The trooper activated his emergency overhead lights and performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was identified as Rodriguez and when contact was made, a vape pen was observed on Rodriguez’s lap. The trooper knew the vape pen to have THC oil through his experience.
A probable cause search of Rodriguez’s vehicle was conducted, and numerous THC vape pens and a gun were found. Rodriguez was interviewed and he allegedly admitted to selling the THC vape pens to high school students to make money.
The trooper believed that Rodriguez possessed the gun to protect the products he sold.
Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on April 23, 2024, and was released on April 26, 2024, on $57,500 bond. He is next due in court on October 1, 2024.
