18-Year-old Arrested After Double Homicide in Morton, Texas

 

MORTON, TX — An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested after a shooting in Morton that left two people dead early Sunday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The Cochran County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Texas Rangers after the shooting was reported at approximately 3:51 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Fillmore Avenue.

DPS identified the victims as 18-year-old Noah Ornelas and 19-year-old Deven Ponce. Both died as a result of the shooting.

Authorities identified the suspect as 18-year-old Tanane Brackens, who has been arrested.

The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation. DPS said any additional information regarding the case will be released by the Cochran County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation remains ongoing.
