Man Indicted for Soliciting an Undercover Officer for Lewd Acts

SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been indicted for soliciting a prostitute who was actually an undercover officer.

Marquis Keyon Lashawn Adams, 36, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for solicitation of a prostitute after speaking with an undercover officer and arranging a price, time, and place, for sexual acts.

According to court documents, on January 25, 2024, the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division conducted a solicitation of prostitution investigation in Tom Green County using a special agent who was undercover on a website commonly used by panderers and prostitutes. They use this website to advertise trafficking victims for sex acts in exchange for a fee.

During the investigation, the undercover officer established a profile on a social media site. At around 5:20 p.m., the suspect, identified as Adams, initiated communications using a cell phone.

Adams allegedly propositioned the undercover officer to engage in sexual contact by agreeing to “full-service with covers 120."

Terminology and slang language is used by subjects during agreements and the verbiage “full service” means vaginal sexual intercourse and “covers” is a slang term for condoms. The “120” is the cost for a half hour. Adams then advised the undercover officer “I got 120” and asked the officer for the address.

Then, Adams allegedly overtly acted on this intent by traveling to a prearranged location at a prearranged time for the purpose of sexual contact while under the impression that the undercover officer was a prostitute. After arriving at the location, Adams was detained.

When he was arrested, Adams said to the arresting officers that he was carrying a firearm, and officers located a loaded 9mm handgun on his hip.

Adams was arrested on January 25, 2024, and was released the next day on January 26, 2024, on a $23,000 bond. He is next due in court on July 16, 2024.
