SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for sexually assaulting a child and taking pictures and videos of the acts.
Jerimiah Tharp, 20, was indicted in January on three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child.
According to court documents, on September 21, 2023, a forensic interview was conducted at the Children’s Advocacy Center in San Angelo where a child said that Tharp had sexually assaulted her about five or six times. Prior to the first assault, Tharp and the child had talked, and he discussed wanting to be closer to the child by “having sexual intercourse”.
The child victim stated that Tharp had assaulted her at two local establishments in San Angelo where children and young teenagers often frequent. Also, Tharp had used his cellphone to save photographs and videos of the sexual assaults between him and the child victim.
The investigation confirmed the child’s mother also knew about the sexual nature of the relationship.
Tharp was arrested on September 22, 2023, and was released the same day on $25,000 bond.
