Shooting at Odessa High School: Student Injured

ODESSA, TX — Odessa High School was placed on lockdown this morning, Feb. 26, following reports of a student being shot in a parking lot.

According to authorities, the injured student suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Fortunately, the injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.

Officials said that the shooter fled, and both students and staff are confirmed to be safe at this time.

In an update from Ector County ISD, police confirmed the campus was secured.

Parents were informed that students would be released at lunch, and those wishing to check their children out of school would be excused.

As students are released, counselors and campus leaders will be available to speak with those needing support before they depart. On-campus assistance will continue to be provided for all students who choose to remain at school throughout the day.
