Teens on Run for Pre-school Shooting Threat

LEAGUE CITY, TX — The League City Police Department is currently addressing an alleged threat targeting an undisclosed school within the town. However, authorities have clarified that there are no discernible "actionable threats" against preschools or other educational campuses.

The revelation regarding the purported threat was disclosed by the LCPD on Friday, following similar reports received by various Texas police departments linking the threat to two runaway teenagers from Lander, Wyoming.

Both the League City and Amarillo police departments have issued public alerts, urging citizens to be vigilant for Otis Edlund and Quintin Wyrick, both 16 years old. The teenagers are believed to be driving a 1969 white Chevrolet Chevelle with Wyoming registration, having allegedly stolen both firearms and the vehicle from a residence in Lander before fleeing.

Amarillo police issued a news release at 11:25 a.m. on Friday, citing "a community threat resulting from information from Wyoming" and noting that the potential threat involved "wanted subjects (that) could be traveling from Wyoming to League City, Texas." However, Amarillo authorities have found no direct threat to their city in the Texas Panhandle.

While neither police department specified why the Galveston County town of 112,000 residents was identified as the alleged threat's destination, League City police stated that they have yet to establish a connection.

Despite the lack of a confirmed link, the LCPD has reassured the public that it is diligently investigating the situation. In a statement, they mentioned, "Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies are working together to locate the juvenile suspects." The League City Police Department has collaborated closely with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office, whose deputies serve as School Liaison Officers for the Clear Creek Independent School District. The LCPD intends to continue collaborative efforts with other agencies throughout the weekend to ensure the safety of students in League City schools as the new week approaches.

UPDATE: According the a Facebook Post by the League City Police Department, the two Wyoming teens continue to elude authorities. The Facebook post was released Monday evening at 8 P.M. with the following information,

"The League City Police Department continues to work with the local, state, and federal agencies following any leads to assist with the locating of the two juveniles from Wyoming. At this time there is no new information to pass on to our citizens.

Tomorrow, February 13, 2024, LCPD officers, along with the assisting agencies will continue to be a visible presence in all schools within League City. Again, we are hoping the two juveniles will be located quickly, however, there is still no indication to law enforcement that they have left Wyoming."
