Wanted Fugitive Captured in Santa Rita After High-Speed Chase

SAN ANGELO, TX - A routine commute for a Tom Green County Sheriff's Office Patrol Deputy concluded with a high-speed pursuit through the streets of San Angelo Monday night.

The chase, which took place on Jan. 22, ultimately led to the arrest of Isiah Aguilera, a 19-year-old Houston man with an active warrant for robbery in Harris County.

At approximately 6:49 p.m., the deputy, driving westbound on West Beauregard Avenue, witnessed a vehicle on South Tyler Street recklessly maneuver through an intersection, narrowly avoiding a collision with another vehicle. The deputy promptly initiated a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle chose to evade.

The chase weaved through the surrounding neighborhood until it came to an abrupt halt near the intersection of Colorado Avenue and South Fillmore Street. The driver, identified as Aguilera from Houston, exited the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. Two female passengers also fled the scene as Aguilera darted through fences, briefly managing to elude law enforcement.

San Angelo Police Department joined the effort, establishing a perimeter to contain Aguilera. Despite a second attempt to evade capture, he was apprehended and taken into custody. Aguilera, known to have an active warrant for robbery in Harris County and a history of evading law enforcement, now faces additional charges.

Meanwhile, the two female passengers were located at a nearby residence, identified, and interviewed by deputies. Aguilera has been booked into the Tom Green County Jail on charges of Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle, Evading Arrest Detention, and the outstanding Harris County Robbery warrant.
