San Angelo Man Arrested for Brutal Armed Robbery

SAN ANGELO—A San Angelo man has been arrested for aggravated robbery after he and another person used a handgun to ransack the victim’s house.

Melchizadek Carter, 29, was arrested by the San Angelo Police Department for Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest after he and another man forced their way into a house and robbed the resident.

According to court documents, at around 1:40 a.m. on December 8, 2023, San Angelo Police arrived at a residence on the 300 block of East 12th Street where a robbery was apparently taking place. On scene, the officers found the person who lived in the home who said that two men had threatened and robbed him after pointing a gun in his face. Then, the two took items like the victim’s wallet and glasses. Also, the gun that was allegedly used in the robbery was found by officers.

At 1:35 a.m. that morning, the resident had been jolted awake by a loud knocking at his door. He went to answer the door and recognized the man as Carter, the defendant. He had been allowed Carter to stay at the house on December 6, just a few days before the robbery. Carter at comeback looking to get some of the stuff he had left behind, but the victim did not let him inside.

This angered Carter who then attempted to push his way into the house but was continuously stopped by the resident. Then, another unidentified man, who had concealed himself near the door, appeared and cocked a handgun, pointing it at the resident.

The resident relented and let the two men into his house, fearing the worst if he refused while the robbers took items from the residence.

Messages had been sent to the victim from Carter following the robbery. Carter allegedly sent two voice messages and four text messages, one of which said that a third party told Carter that the police had been called and were on their way to the victim’s residence. The handgun that was found matched the handgun the victim described. After the weapon had been secured, a round was found inside the chamber.

Carter, who is also known as Melchizadek Parker, was arrested on December 17, 2023, and was booked into the Tom Green County Jail. He is still and inmate as of December 21, 2023, and is being held on $152,500 bond.
