Bomb Threat Shuts Down West Texas Airport

 

ALPINE, TX  — The Alpine Police Chief reported Tuesday morning that employees at the Alpine Casparis Municipal Airport received a threatening email from an unknown sender, indicating explosives were on an airplane and also in some buildings at the airport.

Employees took immediate action and alerted law enforcement authorities. Personnel from the Alpine Police Department and Brewster County Sheriff’s Office promptly responded to the reported threat.

In response to the threat, the airport was temporarily closed down while law enforcement officers and specially trained Explosive Detection K-9 units conducted a thorough search of the area. After a comprehensive sweep, no explosives were discovered.

The FBI has joined the investigation to assist local authorities in determining the origin and credibility of the threatening email. As of now, there are no identified suspects in connection with the incident.

Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the content or specifics of the threatening communication.

The Alpine community and airport personnel have been assured of continued vigilance by law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of the area.
