SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a child several times over the past year.
Jerimiah Tharp, 19, of San Angelo, was arrested on September 22, 2023, by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office for Sexual Assault of a Child.
According to court documents, the assaults occurred back on April 28, 2023, but on September 21, 2023, a forensic interview was conducted at the Children’s Advocacy Center, located at 3418 Town & Country Drive, where the victim stated that she had been sexually assaulted by Tharp five or six times.
The juvenile said that she and Tharp had talked about having sex prior to the first sexual encounter and she advised that they discussed “wanting to be closer to each other”. In the interview, the child victim said that Tharp had sexually abused her at two local establishments in San Angelo where children and young teenagers often frequent.
Tharp allegedly used his cell phone to save photos and videos of the sexual encounters. The victim’s mother confirmed that she knew about her child and Tharp’s sexual relationship.
Tharp was arrested on September 22, 2023, for Sexual Assault of a Child, and was released the same day on $25,000 bond.
