Midland Legacy Student Shot and Killed this Week

MIDLAND, TX— A Midland Legacy High School student is dead and two teenagers are behind bars after being involved in a shooting.

According to reports, on August 15, around 4:20 p.m., police responded to the 1900 block of East Scharbauer Drive for a shooting victim. Midland Legacy student Morgan Osborne, 17, was found dead from a gunshot wound.

Two teens were arrested after they allegedly ran from the scene with the gun used to shoot the student. They were both charged with tampering with evidence.

Midland Independent School District issued the following statement:

Wednesday morning, it was learned that a Legacy High School student had passed away Tuesday in what Midland Police believe to be a homicide. The incident happened in the afternoon away from any MISD campus or property.

Midland Police are actively investigating.

MISD offers sincere condolences to friends and family of the victim.

Counselors are available at the LHS campus for any student or staff member who may need assistance during this time.
