San Angelo Couple Indicted for %$#@! Graffiti on Elementary School

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo couple has been indicted in Tom Green County for painting sexually charged images and explicit language on a San Angelo elementary school.

Hector Leroy Gonzalez, 21, and Justice Guthrie, 19, were indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for marking Graffiti on a Monument, Place of Worship, Burial Marker, or School.

The indictment follows the arrest of the pair back in January.  Here are details from that arrest report.  On January 3, 2023, San Angelo police were dispatched to Bradford Elementary, located at 2302 Bradford Street, in response to a criminal mischief call. Officers met with a Bradford school official on scene and collected evidence that the school had a significant number of markings on the walls, playground equipment, pillars, billboard sign, and playground. The marking included sexually provocative images of male genitalia and explicit language.

The estimated cost of the damage was documented at $15,500 for this incident.

On January 9, 2023, investigators met with the same Bradford school official who observed surveillance footage and said she was unfamiliar with the female suspect, who was identified as Guthrie. The school official said she was able to identify the male suspect as Gonzalez as she observed him picking up a student from the school.

Investigators collected and reviewed surveillance footage from the scene and observed both Guthrie and Gonzalez on video with what appeared to be a black marker alongside each other, marking various spots around the school.

Both Gonzalez and Guthrie were confirmed to be the suspects after they were positively identified through the San Angelo police database. They were both booked into the Tom Green County Jail on January 10, 2023, for marking Graffiti on a School. Guthrie and Gonzalez both posted their $7,500 bonds on January 31, 2023, and January 13, 2023, respectively.

Marking a school, place of worship, monument, or burial site with graffiti is a state jail felony and carries a possible punishment of six months to two years in jail and a possible fine of $10,000.

I know it's become more common for people to hire someone to track down people for comments made on the internet, but if I had to hack some overconfident fool to death in self-defense over a comment, I'd definitely do so over agreeing with you on this.

Richard S Shaver was onto something when he started ranting about Deros in early 20th century - considering this local behavior, anyway. What else could justify this trend towards sadistic idiocy?

On the other hand, your description is unfair. Pigs have contributed much to breakfast and have been very helpful to the Spanish as ingredients in their tapas, but they have never left graffiti on a school. When has the humble pig ever vandalized a primary school where impressionable children would be?

I sit chastened.  Pigs can indeed be useful creatures.  I exclude the feral variety, the doers of this graffiti deed, and some of the other posters here.

Your criticism of the feral hog reeks of envy, Expat. The ones I've encounered in the wild were usually gracious and peaceful when given a respectful distance. That's more than can be said for some hominids-in-name-only who can't even see the value in planting a tree...

My 'tude regarding the nasty sumbitches comes from my having seen what they do to topsoil, fence, deer feeders, and smaller, more desirable critters.  They also too frequently exhibit an "intemperate disposition"... taken from a line in "The Unforgiven".  I may not be a hunter, but I will crank a round at a wild hog.  They're just big vermin, and about as desirable as having too many mothers-in-law in one's past.
