San Angelo Man Seriously Injured with 'Claw-like' Homemade Weapon During Fight

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been arrested for stabbing and cutting a victim with a claw-like handmade weapon during a fight in east San Angelo.

Dusty Don Dominguez, 38, has been arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

According to court documents, on July 19, 2023, San Angelo police were dispatched to the 300 Highland Boulevard for a reported assault victim. Once on scene, police located the victim who said that Dominguez was the man who attacked him. The victim was suffering from cuts and lacerations to his head, neck, back chest, and arm.

The investigator responded to the scene who met with a witness. The witness said that Dominguez pulled up in front of the residence on Highland Boulevard and pointed his fingers in the shape of a gun, threating the victim who was in the front yard. Dominguez then exited the vehicle and stepped on the sidewalk, where the victim and Dominguez started to fight.

During the fight, the witness saw what looked like bladed instruments in Dominguez’s hands. She said Dominguez slashed the victim’s neck and arm which began to bleed heavily. The witness also claimed that Dominguez swung a garden tool at the victim, but it broke. After the assault, Dominguez left in the car.

Dominguez’s mother allegedly drove the car back to the scene.

At Shannon Downtown, the investigator met with the victim, who stated the Dominguez pulled up in front of the residence. He told Dominguez that he needed to leave and that he was not welcome. Dominguez allegedly told him he was there to kill him. When Dominguez stepped onto the sidewalk, the victim hit him. Then, Dominguez hit the victim with a claw-like homemade weapon.

The investigator viewed all the injuries to the victim. It was observed that the victim’s neck wound was closed with sutures and his wrist injury was closed with staples. The victim claimed that Dominguez also had a knife in one of his hands.

Dominguez was treated at Shannon Downtown where the investigator met with him. He was read his Miranda Rights and he agreed to answer questions. Dominguez said he went over to the residence on Highland Boulevard to talk to the victim about the victim “putting a hit” on his mother. Dominguez then told the victim to come where he was and when he stepped out of the vehicle, the victim hit him.

Dominguez said this knocked him down and allegedly admitted to striking the victim in the neck with his “spike”. He described this “spike” as being made of wire and it wraps around his hand. Then, Dominguez claimed that the victim hit him with a spade shovel form the yard.

After the fight, Dominguez said he drove home and walked to the hospital. According to Dominguez, the spike weapon was inside his apartment. After going to the apartment and obtaining consent, the weapon was seized.

Dominguez was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and he is currently and inmate being held on $40,000 bond.

You're not stupid.  You well know that guns do not cause violence, and I know you are speaking tongue in cheek.

Guns are tools that allow those with ill will to inflict more violence and harm on others than if such ill-willed folks were not so equipped.  Clubs, bats, knives, police batons, brass knuckles, tire irons, chains, and other such things cannot do the damage that a firearm can.. especially since any idiot can use one so easily.

You are correct, I am not stupid!

Guns can allow those with ill will to inflict a lot of damage but if you will take a closer look around, so can bombs, poisons, gasoline and glass bottles, cars, trucks, passenger planes, and probably viruses. People need to stop blaming the methods and start blaming people. Not too many years ago a person (without a background check) could go buy a surplus 30 cal. carbine with a folding wire stock, 30 round magazines and ammo was plentiful and cheap. That wasn't the only semi auto gun available either. Mass shootings were almost unheard of. That sort of thing didn't start until after the flood of violent, graphic video games played by the very young. The violent, graphic movies where you need a calculator to keep up with the body count and the advent of so very many gangs. They have become as common as flies. I can go on and on but I don't believe you are stupid either.
