San Angelo Man Sentenced for Possessing Lewd Images of Children

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man was placed on deferred adjudication probation after pleading guilty to possession of obscene images of children.

Miles Marcel Morales, 18, has taken a plea deal after getting charged with possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, the Texas Department of Public Safety was sent a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A Mirandized non-custodial interview was conducted with Morales on October 31, 2022, and during the interview, he admitted to possession child pornography. Morales also admitted to sharing and distributing the lewd images on social media platforms.

Morales gave a Special Agent consent to go through his cell phone and iPad and while doing so, the agent located the social media platform where Morales shared eight images of a girl under the age of 18 engaging in sexual performance.

The agent also located in a social media platform where Morales had received images of girls, ages 10 to 16, engaging in sexual performance. Then, the agent found where Morales had been talking with a young girl on social media who identified as a 16-year-old. After the child confirmed her age with Morales, he solicited the young girl to send video of herself engaging in sexual activities, which the child did so.

Also located were numerous images of child pornography on Morales’ iPad and those images were stored on several social media platforms.

Morales was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on October 31, 2022, and was indicted in January 2023. In exchange for a guilty plea, Morales was sentenced to six years deferred adjudication probation. In addition to the deferred adjudication, Morales cannot use the internet except for work and/or school purposes.
