SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been sentenced for his role in a robbery that took place at a local hotel last year.
Andrew Travis Barnett, 28, accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication for an aggravated robbery. According to court documents, on January 26, 2022, a call for service was issued to the Super 8 Hotel on Ave. L in San Angelo regarding a reported aggravated robbery.
Court documents indicate that during the robbery, three suspects, Barnett and two co-defendants, went into a room demanding keys to a vehicle and pointed a gun at the victim. Keys, as well as the victim’s cell phone and a drink were taken before leaving with the vehicle.
On January 27, 2022, two officers were on patrol and observed the two other co-defendants, Jimmy Eden and Raymond Keele, who matched the security stills obtained and provided to patrol units. During detention of the co-defendants, the gun identified by the victim and a number of controlled substances were located.
The investigator was notified and met with the victim again where he positively identified the clothes worn by the subjects and the firearm used. Then, the investigator interviewed several people including the co-defendants and learned the Barnett was also involved. Still photos, statements, and other admissions of note further confirmed Barnett’s role in the robbery.
Barnett was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on January 29, 2022, for the aggravated robbery. In exchange for a guilty plea, Barnett was sentenced to 10 years of deferred adjudication.

Commit armed robbery and you get deferred adjudication (probation). Imagine that! I'm sure with this hard lesson he will never commit another crime.
