Jury Seated in Fiddlestrings Axe Attack Trial

SAN ANGELO, TX – On the night of Mar. 11, 2022, Jessie Flores was attacked in the Fiddlestrings Bar and Patio parking lot with an axe. A year later, 22-year-old Fabien Mejia would be under trial for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, on Mar. 20, 2023, eight men and five women were chosen to determine if Mejia attacked Flores that night. If convicted of aggravated assault, Mejia could spend 20 years in a Texas prison.

In the original report, it was alleged that Mejia was kicked out of the bar that night after an argument broke out at a pool table. While in the parking lot, Mejia allegedly tried to run over the victim but missed. He then got out of the car with an axe and hit the victim with it. As a result of the hit Flores suffered a skull fracture that caused bone fragments to be dispersed inside his cranial cavity.

Testimony continues Tuesday at the Tom Green County courthouse.
