San Angelo Man Jailed for Downloading Thousands of Illegal & Explicit Images of Children

SAN ANGELO- A San Angelo Man has been arrested for being in possession of lewd images of children.

According to court documents, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which provided information that on June 18, 2020, Kik, an online chat service, reported that an unknown person, using the username smittdwag1119, had uploaded 17 media files containing suspected child pornography. All of the video files were then shared  with the Sheriff’s office as evidence.

A subpoena was issued to Suddenlink which provided information showing that the subscriber for the suspected IP address was at the 1700 block of Greenwood Street. A subpoena was also issued to Google, which provided the account holder for the suspected email address as Elvis Smith.

The investigator was able to identify Smith and a deputy located him at the 1800 block of Harrison Street. An interview was conducted with Smith who allegedly stated the Kik account was his and that he had viewed and downloaded child pornography in the past. Smith allegedly said he has several thousand media files containing child pornography downloaded to several electronic devices.

Three of the videos that were uploaded had a six-year-old, eight-year-old, and 12-year-old children participating in sexual activity with adults.

Smith was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on December 27, 2022 and is currently an inmate being held on $30,000 bond.
