San Angelo Police: Drive-by Shooting Injured A Woman Tuesday Night

 

SAN ANGELO- The San Angelo Police Department has released information regarding the shooting victim on Chestnut Street Tuesday night.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, on July 19, 2022, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 2200 block of Chestnut Street regarding a shooting victim. Once on scene, responding officers located a 23-year-old woman who suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the lower portion of her leg. She was transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment.

Detectives with the SAPD were contacted to assist and it was learned that the shooting incident had stemmed from a verbal altercation that took place at a convenience store by Sherwood Way.

Both parties left the location in separate vehicles but ultimately came across one another a second time on Glenna Street. Detectives were able to find out that words were exchanged again between the parties and one of the passengers, later identified as 17-year-old Jeremiah Martinez, produced a handgun, and began shooting into the victim’s vehicle.

This is where the 23-year-old female was struck in the leg then drove to the residence on Chestnut Street to call for assistance.

Officers located Martinez at a residence on the 1300 block of Guthrie Street where he was taken into custody, booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility, and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
