SAN ANGELO, TX – A nearly 40-year-old San Angelo woman is facing serious jail time after a grand jury indicted her for selling methamphetamine.
According to court documents, on Mar. 9, a Tom Green County Grand jury indicted Amber Dawn Banks, aka Amber Barrera, 38, of San Angelo, for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
The original arrest occurred on Jan. 12 at 11:30 p.m. Banks had city warrants and was recognized by an officer with the San Angelo Police Department near the area of Class Blvd.
The officer stopped Banks, confirmed the warrant, and placed her under arrest. During the search of her person, the officer found a glass pipe with a burnt end and a small clear twisted baggie of a green leafy like substance that weighed with packaging at 4.31 grams.
After the officers discovered her initial stash, Banks told officers that she was in possession of a large quantity of a harder narcotic. More searching led officers tot he discovery of 22.95 grams of methamphetamine. The drugs were tested on scene and came back positive for the presence of meth.
Banks was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on Jan. 13 and was released on Mar. 25 after posting a $50,000 bond.
She has an initial pretrial set for May 3 at 9:30 a.m in Judge Dusek's court.
If convicted Banks will serve between 5-99 years in a Texas prison.
