SAN ANGELO, TX – The second day of the state vs Nathanial Gonzalez's manslaughter trial was filled with witness statements from detectives with the San Angelo Police Department.

The court reconvened in Courtroom A at 9:15 a.m. on Mar. 14. Gonzalez, his attorney Tommy Jackson, prosecutors from the district attorney's office Brent Ratekin and Jensen Martinez, and the 391st District Judge Brad Goodwin announced they were all ready by 9:40 a.m.

The detectives described to the jury what happened throughout their investigation. Prior documents submitted to the judge details that as officers arrived they found Galvan with a gunshot wound to his torso.

Gonzalez was also in the apartments, located at 212 Koberlin St. The detective states in his report that Gonzalez told him that Galvan had been playing with the gun. At one point Gonzalez claims he grabbed the gun, pointed it at Galvan, and pulled the trigger.

In a separate document, submitted by Shannon via the prosecutors, a description was given by San Angelo EMS paramedics. The 48-page document recounts the journey from the floor of the kitchen in the small apartment to Galvan's last breath on the hospital bed.

After PD secured the scene, paramedics began a rapid trauma assessment. They noted that there was a bystander in the room that could only tell the paramedics the victim's name. The paramedics found that the bullet had entered through Galvan's right lower abdomen and exited through his upper back.

Paramedics controlled the bleeding and rushed Galvan to the hospital. During the ride, paramedics attempted to place an IV in Galvan.

At this time the paramedics claim that Galvan got hostile and ripped out the IV, rendering it useless. Oxygen was then applied as the victim was losing oxygen in his left lung. Once at the hospital Galvan went into cardiac arrest and died after multiple attempts of resuscitation.

The jury met on Mar. 14 until 5:20 p.m. Court resumed at 8:30 on Tuesday morning.
