SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been charged with three counts of theft after police recovered stolen property, including a generator belonging to an 87-year-old victim, during a proactive patrol, the San Angelo Police Department stated.
David Suddock was arrested Aug. 16 after an investigator with the department’s Auto Theft Task Force observed a vehicle traveling on a public roadway that had been linked to multiple reported vehicle burglaries earlier that day, police said. He was charged with driving while license invalid without financial responsibility, a Class B misdemeanor.
During an inventory of the vehicle, investigators found several Milwaukee-brand power tools with obliterated serial numbers. The tools were seized, and investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for the vehicle.
A stolen power generator was recovered and returned to its 87-year-old owner.
Suddock was later charged with three counts of theft of property valued at less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions in connection with three separate burglary incidents that occurred Aug. 16, the department said.
Police reminded residents to lock vehicles, remove valuables when possible, and avoid leaving firearms, tools, electronics, or other valuable property in unattended vehicles.
