5-Year-Old Cowboy Survives Night in the South Texas Wilderness

BANDERA, TX – A 5-year-old Cowboy survives after wondering away and spending the night in the South Texas wilderness.

According to multiple news outlets, on Mar. 7, deputies with the Bandera County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 500 block of Sharon Dr. for the report of a missing child.

When they arrived, the deputies spoke with the mother and grandmother of the child who said that their 5-year-old, Cameron, had gone missing around dinner time. They believed he left the house to walk the family's dog and when they went outside he was missing.

BCSO alerted several agencies of the missing child and a search party was arranged. During the search the Texas Department of Public Safety launched search-and-rescue helicopters as well as trailing dogs.

The following morning at around 11:30 a.m., Cameron was located by the helicopter walking in the middle of an open field.

Cameron was reported to be wearing a neon green t-shirt, blue jeans, and boots. When they found Cameron he was cold and wet from going into a creek.

The grandmother of Cameron spoke to press after he was located. She said Cameron was a tough kid and a true cowboy but said they would definitely not be letting him out of their sight anytime soon.
